As the Act is made mandatory by the Govt. It cannot be wound up. Once registered, a minimum quota of 2.5% is needed to be maintained within the workforce.
NATS, or National Apprenticeship Training Scheme is an initiative by the Government of India to provide practical, hands-on experience to fresh graduates and diploma holders.
Companies with more than 4 employees are eligible to get registered in NATS. It is mandatory for companies with more than 30 employees and optional for companies with 4-29 employees. When it comes to candidates, eng. and non-eng. graduates and diploma holders in engineering, aged 18-27 are eligible.
NATS benefits employers by reducing employee expenses, as employer does not have comply with statutory, labor law or min wage compliance, gets incentives from government and can claim stipend paid to apprentices under CSR.
NATS is mandatory for companies with a headcount of 30 or more employees, and optional for companies with 4-29 employees.
A company can engage apprentices equivalent to 2.5% to 15% of its total workforce under NATS.
